Surrounding Areas
|
The
surrounding areas featured below are just a few of the
Wake County communities that have grown in recent years
in tandem with the huge Triangle growth. Each town has
been successful in preserving its unique charm
and historic identity, many tracing their origins to
the railroad. Each offers a variety of suburban and
rural living choices among new and established communities.
Apex
The
Town of Apex takes its history very seriously. While
many of the buildings in its restored Downtown Historic
District are listed in the National Registry of Historic
Places, the train depot is noted as one of the best
examples of an intact turn-of-the-century railroad town.

Fuquay-Varina
With
a population of some 8,000, Fuquay-Varina is flourishing
with a healthy mix of residential and commercial/industrial
development. As a result, its local economy is fueled
by both the Greater Triangle and its own business base.
Its four golf courses no doubt invite both residents
and players from the business community.

Garner
On
Raleigh’s southern flank, Garner (population,
20,000) remains a small town offering big city amenities.
Calling itself the “most promising corner of the
Triangle,” Garner recognizes that its recent growth
will continue and has set out to preserve its family-oriented
traditions along with a pro-business climate.

Holly
Springs
With
a population that has tripled over the past seven years
to about 10,000, Holly Springs anticipates a further
doubling by 2010. To accommodate this growth and retain
